CPLP™ Study Group

This wiki is intended for those members pursuing CPLP certification.

Aug 03 The WebEx Sessopm this week will cover Organizational Change. Here is a fun Crossword Puzzle to help you review.

July 30 WebEx session are going pretty good! We have consistently had good turnout even though we have had an incredibily beautiful summer competing for our attention. Tonight the session was Measuring and Evaluating. I promised to post the Nine-Step Program info and here it is:

June 18 we held our first WebEx session! It went off without a hitch (mostly!)  Thank you to all the volunteers who made this happen including Steve Maul whose company Infomentis provided the WebEx tool for us and a discounted phone call so the call could be free to our study group. Also, thanks to Steve, the event was recorded for further review. We will announce on the LinkedIn group and on this Wiki when that recording is available. I would also like to thank Laurie Gilmore and Charlyne MacArthur, Sharon Barbee, Mary Duncan and Fran Weber.

Please study book 1 and 2 Designing and Delivering training for our next WebEx session which begins at 7:00 pm on July 9. We will try to send the link and phone number out in advance so that you can add it to your calendar.

Here is the case study that was referenced during the event. You can use this for further study:

Needs Assessment: Case Study Activity

A new asthma-relief inhaler is going to launch in two months. All sales representatives will need to be trained on the new product since it is substantially different from other products they currently promote.
Research and development, product marketing, and field managers all have different perspectives on what type of training will yield the best results. They have come to you to develop the learning solution.
Sales representatives are expected to sell $1 million of the asthma-relief inhalers in the first year and to articulate all product features and benefits in the current marketing “script”. Representatives will also need to demonstrate how to use the product correctly.

June 11, we held our kick-off session at the Knowledge Development Center (THANK You KDC) and nearly 20 people participated. We got off to a great start. Laurie Gilmore did an exceptional job in presenting the basics regarding the CPLP requirements. The participants asked great questions. We are looking forward to our next session which will also be held at the KDC. After that, the sessions will be held online using WebEx.

Frequently ASKED Question: Can I miss a session or two or more. Of course you can! It's a study group that you can participate in or not. However, the CPLP team cannot help you with what you missed. Please, make friends with someone on the team (it's a good idea to have a study buddy, anyway) and you can help each other with whatever you miss. You may also, find that this is a super way to network! Do you need a study buddy? Mention that during one of our sessions and we can try to help.

We will update this site VERY regulary. It is a great reason to return and return again and again.

NEW! Please use the Team Project area for news regarding the upcoming session. NEW!

Are you interested in acquiring the tools to stand out from the competition in workplace learning and performance? The ASTD Certification Institute’s Certified Professional in Learning and Performance Certification (CPLP) provides a way for you to prove your value as a workplace learning and performance professional to employers and to be confident in the field. Best of all, it’s free!

The CPLP consists of two parts – a multiple choice knowledge exam on 9 areas of expertise followed by a work project submission.
